The Art of Making Teapots – Booked out – complete form to be added to waitlist
2 pm–5 pm
Inspired by the Festival theme, Make or Break, Parramatta Clay and Arts Inc. have designed this clay workshop where participants will have the opportunity to piece together the required forms – body, spout and handle – to create their own usable teapot.
How a teapot holds and pours liquid is a very special design technique. Many things must be considered when making teapots, such as the weight of the pot, the length of the spout and its ability to pour, the security of the lid, the strength of the handle, plus the changes that occur to the form when the pot is subjected to heat in the kiln.
Our potters will make the pieces that form a teapot and you will construct your very own functional teapot taking into account the above factors.
The pieces will be fired and glazed ready for collection at a later date.
Note: the studio is four blocks from Parramatta Station. There is free street parking out front on Sundays.
